Alpine West Ski School

Silver Star (2000) photos:

Ron Mattila shows the skiing that made him the Director of Alpine West Ski School. Click Here !
Skiers have come from as far away as New Zealand just to get a glimpse of our instructor Ted Burkhardt on skis. Away from the mountain Ted does a pretty good imitation of Joe Satriani on the electric guitar.  Click Here !
Denny Faris carves up some powder from the icy slope. Mach III speed runs back to the chair lift is Denny's forte'. We all think its because he likes the ski lift ride. Click Here !
A view of the house we stayed in. Unfortunately 75% of it is hidden by the hill. Click Here !
The view from our front room. The Face, Christmas Bowl, Milky Way, FIS, and a host of other runs to look at. Click Here !
Part of this years group. Ted, Sharie, Verna, Rod, Jan, Denny, Bob, and Mr. Hugs (Ron) at the summit. A great view of the Andrews Corporation microwave dishes in the background too. Click Here !
Ron, Denny, Verna, Sharie, Rod, Jan, Bob & Ted (with outstretched arms) pose for a view of the snow laden trees and the beautiful hills in the distance. Webmasters Note: Ted juxtaposes himself periodically in photo shoots to make sure he remains the center of attention. Click Here !
For Your Viewing Pleasure: The colors it takes to ski Canada; Ronnie red, Dandy Lion yellow, VERY Verna blue, basic black, Gais' Green, and dark blue. {Mr. Blackwell will certainly bag Jan for the contrasting pink lift ticket holder though.} Click Here !
The group practicing their "yoo-hoos". I think they were yelling at Jerry on the lift but I'm not sure. Click Here !
Jan gets with it. Great hand position, good carve, looking at camera...... Click Here !
Verna has to be the most improved skier of the group. She really flies down the hills now. Click Here !
Not to be outdone, Margie lets the powder fly ! Click Here !
Jerry makes a quick turn and readies himself for another. Click Here !
Mr. Hugs and his now famous hat work their way towards the camera. Click Here !
Later in the day after people have spent hours together, couples start to form. Ted and Denny [left] make a nice couple. Looks like Ron is pairing up with Jerry but he is actually going for his wallet. [Just kidding guys.....] Click Here !
The last run of the day (before night skiing starts). Ted's antennae extend skyward to make sure he can make it down the hill if it gets too dark. Click Here !
The Attridge runs. Jan, Jerry, Rod, Denny, Mr. Hugs and Ted pose. Click Here !
Finally I get in a picture. The Attridge runs again with our house in the background. Mr. Hugs, Denny,  Jerry, Rod, Jan and Steve. Click Here !
Proof positive that Ron doesn't just check his eyelids for holes in the evenings after skiing. From left...Denny holding up a pan lid showing Ron how he used to play cymbals in the marching band, Ron looking for his reflection in the pan lid, and Bob looking at his watch wondering how long the antics will continue.
